Little Sprouts - Growing Through Play

If you’ve visited Little Sprouts recently, you may have noticed a couple of exciting new additions to our play space—and judging by the tiny hands that seem to be constantly gathered around them, we think it’s safe to say they’re already a hit!

Through a partnership with ECI TRAC and the Henry County Child Care Network, we were able to add a new light table and interactive lava floor tiles to Little Sprouts.

They’re colorful, they’re fun, and they’re definitely getting plenty of attention—but to us, these additions are about so much more than adding new toys.

A Little Light, A LOT of Learning ✨

Our new light table gives children an entirely different way to explore familiar materials.

As little ones build with translucent tiles, experiment with colors and shapes, sort objects, create patterns, and discover what happens when light shines through different materials, they’re engaging in early concepts of science, math, problem-solving, and creative thinking.

It also offers something we value deeply at Little Sprouts: open-ended play.

There isn’t one “right” way to use a light table. A toddler may simply enjoy placing colorful pieces on the glowing surface, while an older preschooler might create an elaborate design or begin experimenting with symmetry and patterns. The experience grows right alongside them.

Learning With Their Whole Bodies

Our new lava floor tiles bring that same sense of discovery to active play.

The colorful liquid inside moves and changes beneath little feet and hands, encouraging children to step, jump, crawl, balance, and experiment with cause and effect.

While it may look like a child simply stomping around on a really cool floor tile, they’re also working on gross motor development, balance, coordination, body awareness, and sensory processing.

And perhaps most importantly—they’re learning through something children are naturally designed to do: PLAY.

Community Investment in Our Littlest Neighbors ❤️

We are incredibly grateful to ECI TRAC and the Henry County Child Care Network for helping bring these resources into our space.

Partnerships like this matter because investing in spaces for young children is an investment in the entire community.

Little Sprouts was created to give families a safe, welcoming place where children can explore and caregivers can connect. Being able to work alongside organizations that recognize the importance of early childhood allows us to continue making that environment richer and more accessible for the families who use it.

We’re proud that these resources aren't tucked away somewhere children only encounter occasionally. They're right here in a community space, available for little hands to explore again and again.

So next time you visit, pull up a spot at the light table. Jump across the lava tiles. Watch what your little one discovers.

Because sometimes the things that look the most like “just playing” are where some of childhood’s biggest learning is happening. 🌱

Thank you, ECI TRAC and the Henry County Child Care Network, for investing in play, early childhood, and the children of our community.
